MEDICARE DRUG PLAN A TOTAL MESS.

Phone counselors for 10 of the nation's large Medicare drug plans gave wrong or incomplete answers in two-thirds of calls to their 800 numbers, a federal watchdog agency reported Monday.

In a slap at Medicare's prescription drug benefit, the Government Accountability Office said erroneous answers by customer-service counselors might have led beneficiaries to choose the wrong coverage and overpay for medicine.
