SMOKE ANGEL

This cloud over the Atlantic was created by a series of smoke flares released by an Air Force C-17 Globemaster 111 jet, which you see on the right. The circular eyes are caused by air spiraling off the plane's wings and are known as wingtip vortices. Why the pilots so this, I do not know. Perhaps they are just having fun.
